It wasn’t a great 4th of July for the Braves in 1920. They were at the Polo Grounds and ended up losing to the Giants 8-5. The losing pitcher for the Braves was Hugh McQuillan.
At that point in the season, the Braves were playing .500 ball. They would end up finishing seventh with a 62-90 record.
No fireworks for the Braves on the fourth that year.
My dad, Everett Wiley Wilson, was born the year before on 7/4/1919.
