A hundred years of baseball was celebrated in 1976. Atlanta had a lot new to show for the league.
They got a new owner, a new manager, a new name for the stadium, a new pitching ace and a new place in the standings. Most of that was good except the standing which was last place in the West with a 70-92 season.
The new owner as R. E. (Ted) Turner III. The new manager was Dave Bristol. The pitcher was two time 20 game winner Andy Messersmith. The stadium was renamed Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium.
A lot new but not all pretty. The Braves had not ended last since 1935.
Better years would come.
