Some changes were in the offing for the Boston Beaneaters (now the Atlanta Braves) in 1886. John Morrill moved into his 5th season as manager. But for all the changes, it didn’t do them any good in the standings.
They ended the season with a 56-61 record, in 5th place. That was 30 1/2 games behind.
While they didn’t improve in the standings, they did play a little better winding up just 5 games under .500. While it didn’t meet the Braves standards, it was improvement.
